About CBF 2009
The Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF), to be held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago in conjunction with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, is a major international business event, which brings together some 700 government and business leaders from throughout the Commonwealth and beyond.
The Forum promotes practices and policies for the enhancement of global trade and investment. It provides new opportunities for business networking and partnerships, drawing on the Commonwealth’s comparative advantage in areas such as services, information and communications technology, banking and financial services, manufacturing, agriculture and natural resources.
The last two CBFs were held in Malta (2005) and Uganda (2007), and each constituted the biggest business conferences ever held in those countries. Speakers at previous CBFs have included CEOs and Chairpersons from leading global companies as well as past and current government leaders such as Tony Blair, PM UK; John Howard, PM Australia; Jean Chretien, PM Canada; Thabo Mbeki, President South Africa; Helen Clark, PM New Zealand; Goh Chok Tong, PM Singapore; Olusegun Obasanjo, President of Nigeria; Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda; Owen Arthur, PM Barbados; Patrick Manning, PM Trinidad & Tobago; and Hubert Ingraham, PM Bahamas.
